My husband found this page and I am astounded. I can't believe there are so many others. My name was an original combination of my Father's sister, Margaret Elizabeth. I've only heard of this being a German name, my father-in-law was a German immigrant and said the name was common there. I'll write more later.

This is so incredible! I have never met anyone else with my name. I've heard of people's aunts in Germany or cousins in Holland with my name, but never have I met another Marlise face to face. My mother had a Dutch friend named Marlise and she loved the name. It was by pure coincidence that she met and married a Dutchman. My father was of course thrilled with the name due to its Dutch heritage. Let me close by saying that the 80's were hell for me here in Canada with the name Marlise.... while all other little girl's had personalized pens, paper, erasers and shoelaces... I had none. I searched in vain for years and years for something in a store with my name on it but to no avail... As an adult I am thankful for such an unusual pretty name. Cheers to all the Marlises in the world!
